To awaken is to grow in awareness of who you are and your place in the scheme of things called life.
Awakening is everyone’s birthright and it starts from the day you are born. It is a process of gaining increasing clarity and the willingness to shake off all the bits that are mistaken for reality. There is a lot of letting go and also a lot of receiving just like that Zen cup which first needs emptying. Life may not be easier but it’s a lot more easier to live now that you know the what, when, where, why, who and how.
It’s a journey of profound transformation
Awakening is about profound change. It’s a call you cannot ignore. In the process, you are literally turned inside out. Some call it the search while others call it going on the path. Whichever it is, the caterpillar cannot become the butterfly without going through the chrysalis stage. Once you answer the call, you will embark on a tedious, often painful but what a life-transforming journey! As for myself, I hope the video below might give you a sense of what the journey has been like for me. Just like the caterpillar, it was like having my DNA rearranged! Very painful indeed as one sheds off all that stands in the way.
Carl Jung described the awakening journey as the process of individuation while Maslow called it self-actualisation. I believe that whichever name you call it, it is part of our DNA that at some point, our souls will want to wake up and help our spirit to make its journey home while we are still in our earth-bound bodies. All the evidence shows that this awakening journey is available to all of us as part of our growth and it is a matter of when we hear and heed its call.
We hear its call most when we become dissatisfied with what the world offers. We begin to ask: Who am I? Why am I the way I am? What can I do about it? How can I make things better? Can there be more to this life? Many of us will seek out teachers and guides to help find the answers. We try this or that, to no avail. And then you realise that once you are ready to do the hard work, the answers will come. It is when everything settles down to a quietness that’s where all the answers are. From that point on, you will begin to ask how you can be the change that the world needs. You will also begin to understand how to be in this world and yet not of it. Now you see further and hear a different tune but remain in this world you must till it’s time for you to truly go home.
What you will discover ….
☀️Knowing how the mind works and how to transcend it is the key to everything. You are powerful beyond words yet true power comes from humility. You will choose humility over all else and how best to serve.
☀️You take better care of both your physical and mental health because you know these two vehicles are vital for your journey. A sound mind and body are truly blessings!
☀️You realise that the creative act is a conduit to spirit. You are a true creator of your reality in the same way that you begin every work of art with a line or mark that starts with a mere (but what a powerful!) dot. You are tapped into something very profound and you use this connection to create solutions to make the world a better place.
☀️You realise only you can give your life the meaning, happiness, and purpose you want and deserve. No one else can do it for you. Not spouse, boss, parent, sibling, or friend.
☀️At any moment, any time, it’s down to a freedom of choice. To be or not to be, to respond or react, that is indeed the question you need to answer at any time. Therein lies the truth of who you really are. You are nothing yet everything. You are both the white canvas and the dot that begins any great work of art. That you are. Tat tvam asi.
