I call it an awakening because it does seem as if I finally managed to wake from the deepest slumber ever. It has been nothing short of life-changing and because of it, I now make it my mission to help shine the light for others so that they, too, can wield the magic that is their birth-right. I see myself as a way-finder and I offer you my help to come into your own power to create any reality you’d rather have or, seriously, just about anything you set your heart on.
I’ve always been in the helping profession first as a teacher and then as a social worker and counsellor helping folks make sense of their psychosocial needs. Now I offer a deeper kind of care – psycho-social-spiritual care using symbol, metaphor and counselling as a way in to the psyche, to help folks awaken to their inner alchemist and to have a taste of the immense and innate power to create anything they put their mind to.
Awakening the alchemist begins with answering three of the most essential and spiritual questions that you could ever ask: Who am I? What is the meaning of my life? What do I want? I call them the 3Qs but they could very well be 4 or 5Qs. In my clinical social work and counselling, as well as my own awakening journey, I have seen how just these 3Qs can cause a lot of angst and heartache in folks. All of a sudden, life hits the pause button followed by an existential crisis and a deep process of self-inquiry. And as long as they don’t find the answers, they continue to feel stuck. But once they do, that’s when they take flight and soar.
It’s a journey of profound transformation
The awakening is not for the faint-hearted. The caterpillar cannot become the butterfly without the chrysalis stage. That’s why finding the answers to the 3Qs is an essential first step. The process will spark off a life-transforming change that will peel away the layers. As you watch the video below, you will get a sense of what the journey has been like for me. Awakening the alchemist in me was like having my DNA rearranged! Just like a caterpillar.
Carl Jung describes the awakening journey as the process of individuation. Maslow called it self-actualisation. Whatever the name, it is the integration of one’s total being, a process so essential for a life well-lived. That’s been so true! This is the soul’s journey home. Jung once pointed out that all his patients who were past 35 years of age healed only when they found the spiritual meaning to their existence. In other words, their very own awakening.
Face-to-face with your inner alchemist
The awakening will help you come into your own power, a power that will unfold for you levels of insight you didn’t think possible. Most of all, you will discover you have within you the most powerful tool to bring about change – the mind. With your mind, you can access an immense power and potential the scope of which few of us truly appreciate or even believe. The moment you hold the key to this power is when you know who you truly are. You are indeed an alchemist capable of immense magic. You can create anything you put your mind to. And you will then want to wield it for the greater good to serve humanity.
The alchemist in you seeks expression through the creative act. As we approach our own unique spirituality, we will look at the world differently and ask how we can be the change that the world needs. And then we make it happen through the creative act. Being creative and allowing oneself to be creative is another aspect of my role as a guide when I am teaching others to connect with their creative spirit. Creative alchemy is what I call it. Once we learn to open our minds to all possibilities that’s when all possibilities are available to us. We are all of us an artist and a magician in reality.
What the inner journey has taught me
☀️We are true creators of our reality in the same way that we begin every work of art with a line or mark that starts with a mere (but what a powerful!) dot.
☀️We shape our destiny like we shape a piece of clay into a desired object of our own design. What I call a vase may be a bowl to you but it’s still a vase to me.
☀️We are the only ones with the power to give our lives meaning and purpose and no one else can do it for us. Not spouse, boss, parent, friend, or sibling. No one owes us a life.
☀️Knowing how the mind works and how to manage it is the key to everything. We are powerful alchemists.
☀️We always have choice. Let me say that again, we always have choice.
