So, you want to improve your networking skills and if possible, turn yourself into a people magnet. You can with the guided meditation I have designed for someone just like you. Record the script in your own voice into your mobile and wherever you are, 5 minutes is all you need to focus your consciousness on what you want to be – a people magnet because of your ‘fragrant’ aura.
Guided meditation is a powerful tool that hypnotherapists like us would teach our clients to help them achieve their goals. They may look deceptively simple but they have the power to transform and change your life. The basis for success is simple: you will see it when you believe it.
How does it work
The guided meditation works because it is rich with symbols and metaphors. This is the language of our subconscious. We feed it with symbolic images that are as vivid as possible. Hence for this meditation, I have chosen to use a fragrant white lotus as the symbol of your magnetism. Just like people are drawn to a sweet-smelling flower, they will be drawn to your fragrance. With your fragrance on all the time, you will find success with people wherever you go, at work, at home or out on a date.
Why record the script in your own voice
There’s this tool called anchoring which we hypnotherapists often use to help our clients quickly access a desirable state by say, performing a certain action. For example, a client is able to calm down by rubbing his thumb whenever he feels the jitters of stage fright coming on. Of course, way before that my client would have learnt to anchor a desirable state with that action.
That is basically why I need you to record this script in your voice so that you don’t end up anchoring to my voice. You therefore create independence in your own power rather than always looking to your therapist or counsellor for the next guided meditation, or help. A good counsellor is about helping the client to stand on his own two feet, essentially working ourselves out of a job!
If you are ready, let’s do this.
Here’s what you do
1. Start by stretching to loosen your body before getting into your usual meditation pose. If you are on a chair or bench, no worries, just sit with back comfortably straight, feet on the floor or cross-legged (it’s possible), hands on your thighs, upturned or downturned is your own preference. If you are able to lie down and relax, well and good. Close your eyes and begin to breathe slowly.
2. Consciously relax your body by slowing down each breath. Do a very slow count down to 5, matching your breath with each count, slowly, relaxing more and more with each breath. At the count of 5, you are fully relaxed.
And when you are ready….
“Imagine in your mind that you are like a huge white lotus, with the flower in full bloom just above the top of your head. Attached to this flower is its stem about an inch thick going down along your spine to end in the misty depths of the pond beyond your tailbone.~Now bring your attention back to the top of your head and see the flower fully opened in its brilliant white golden glory. Most of all, you can smell the fragrance that is coming from the heart of the flower. Wave upon wave of fragrance.~Draw in a deep breath and smell that heavenly fragrance again. Say to yourself, “I am like a most fragrant flower. I give off the most amazing fragrance of peace and loving-kindness. Everywhere I go, people take to me. People know that I bear no harm and bring only love.”~Imagine yourself surrounded or being approached by people who are smiling and friendly towards you. See them in your mind’s eye as they stop to chat and ask how you are doing. Feel the wonderful warm feelings when people are nice to you. See yourself being nice back to them.~See yourself reciprocating in ways that shows to others you are friendly and pleasant. How are you behaving? See, feel, hear, speak the way you would as a fragrant flower. Go ahead and plant these seeds of new behaviour on your part. They will grow in the soil of your mind.~Draw another deep breath and send out another wave of fragrance. Repeat the affirmation again, “I am a most fragrant flower. Yes, I am a most fragrant flower.” Do this several more times.~End the meditation by slowly dissolving the flower and stem and slowly return to the present moment. Rub your hands together several times and place them over your eyes. Give thanks to the Divine, ( or, your version of the Divine).”~
It’s about giving it consistent effort
21 is a sacred number in yogic practices so I am going to strongly encourage you to give this guided meditation a consistent try for 21 days and see if it doesn’t show results.
It’s about making it as vivid as possible – feel, see, smell, hear
Vividness is key. Therefore include all feeling, colour, mood, etc, of what it is like as you imagine yourself emitting the most heavenly magnetic fragrance.
Imagine yourself at work or at play and see, hear, feel how people react to you with friendliness. They smile at you. They approach you. People are drawn to you.
Which also means, you would also need to be making a conscious effort to be that fragrant flower even off your meditation cushion. Go that extra mile to help someone. Be approachable. Often all it takes is a smile. Try it and see the difference.
Finally, here are two more guided meditations from Sadhguru.
